CIF India's most ambitious initiative โ building India's first municipal climate-ageing action platform in Kochi.
Protecting and Recognising Ageing Needs Against Climate โ PRANAM is KCAI's ward-level pilot programme. It is designed to be completed in 90 days, producing five concrete deliverables that serve as a replication blueprint for all 75 wards of Kochi.
PRANAM will be the first documented municipal climate-ageing action in any Indian city โ reportable to WHO-GNAFCC's global network of 1,300+ member cities.
CIF India proudly supported MAGICS NGO's landmark senior athletics event โ a celebration of active ageing, strength, and spirit.
Maharajas College Ground, Kochi
The All Kerala Senior Athletics Meet (AKSAM) 2026 was a landmark state-level sporting event dedicated to celebrating active ageing, lifelong fitness, and senior empowerment. Organised by MAGICS NGO under the auspices of Kochi Municipal Corporation, and aligned with the WHO Age-Friendly Cities and Communities initiative, AKSAM brought together 500+ senior athletes from across Kerala to compete in 19 international-standard athletic events.
CIF India supported this initiative as a partner โ aligned with our Healthy Ageing program and our commitment to the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing. The event also featured free health screening camps, wellness demonstrations, and inspirational sessions.
AKSAM 2026 deployed cutting-edge AI technology for event management โ including QR-based participant check-in, automated age-category grouping, real-time dashboards, AI-powered performance prediction, voice-activated interfaces in Malayalam and English for senior participants, and digital certificates. This tech-forward approach is fully aligned with CIF India's Public Health Technology program โ demonstrating how innovation can make sports and healthcare more accessible for older persons.
A landmark national consensus document โ adopted at NUALS, Kochi โ that underpins CIF India's climate-ageing work.
Adopted at the National Roundtable on Climate Change and Healthy Ageing held at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi โ India's first national consensus document at the intersection of climate change and healthy ageing. The Declaration brought together over 60 experts from public health, climate science, law, civil society, and government.
The Declaration recognises older persons as a priority vulnerable group in climate policy, calls for their inclusion in India's Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plans, and commits to a National Framework for Climate-Smart Healthy Ageing. CIF India's work on the KCAI is a direct programmatic response to the Kochi Declaration's commitments.
